Cincinnati, Ohio-Diversified Compounded products is proud to announce that our MAN-O protective skin cream has been reformulated and improved to meet our customers’ demands. DCP LLC has gone to an all natural, Eco Certified emulsifier/moisturizer made from Safflower seeds to formulate our MAN-O protective cream. This change has allowed us to package our MAN-O protective cream in squeezable tubes, as well as cost efficient 1000 ml wall dispensers.

MAN-O is our solvent resistant skin protective cream. MAN-O was previously only available in 1 pound tubs. While in tubs, MAN-O is generally used by multiple employees creating the opportunity for cross contamination of germs between employees. New and improved MAN-O is now available in 8.0 oz squeezable tubes and 1000 ml wall dispensers, eliminating any chance of cross contamination among employees.

What allowed this change was the addition of Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower Plant) Oleosomes which are an outstanding moisturizer and emollient. These Oleosomes are Eco-Certified meeting our goal of having the most earth friendly skin protectant on the market today. We have always used all-natural protectants in MAN-O, oatmeal and kaolin (clay), and with the addition of Eco-Certified Safflower Oleosomes, we are able to provide you with the greenest protectant on the market today. The DCP sponsored team of Sean Halloran and Javier Balderas finished their season strong with a 6th place finish at the Texas Redfish Series State Championship.

Here is a recap of the action courtesy of the Texas Saltwater Series.

The top redfish teams in Texas met at the Kemah Boardwalk this weekend for a chance at the title of Texas Redfish Series State Champions. Saturday morning the teams were met with a hard north wind and rough conditions. Despite the unfavorable conditions, the teams managed the highest percentage of fish brought to a weigh-in, as all but ten teams caught fish. Local favorites seemed to have a rough time, while many teams who were new to the area surprised everyone with heavier weights. One of those teams was the father/daughter team, Jay and Mary Hakala of team Blue Wave, who led by over a pound after day one with a total two-fish weight of 15.56 pounds. One local team who managed to beat the hometown curse was Sean Halloran and Javier Balderas who captured second place on day one with 14.44 pounds. Rounding out the top three were Shane Anniboli and Bobby Gilbert with 14.05 pounds.

Frequent Handwashing Increases Risk for Irritant Contact Dermatitis

Recent findings from the American Academy of Dermatology indicate that the frequent handwashing taking place in the healthcare industry can lead to a greater risk for irritant contact dermatitis. Here is an excerpt from the article at infectioncontroltoday.com.

"For the millions of healthcare workers in the United States, repeated handwashing may not seem like an occupational hazard at first glance. In fact, good hand hygiene is essential to stop the spread of infections such as staphylococcus and clostridium. However, new research examining the risk factors for irritant contact dermatitis – a common skin condition marked by scaling, redness, itching and burning due to a chemical substance on the skin – among healthcare workers finds that those who washed their hands more than 10 times per day were more likely to develop the condition than those who washed their hands less frequently."

Dermatologist Susan T. Nedorost, MD, FAAD, associate professor of dermatology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio recommended the use of a cream or ointment-based emollient to help protect the hands.

"A cream or ointment-based emollient should be applied immediately after water exposure before the skin is completely dry. The goal is to prevent rapid drying and cracking, so applying the emollient after the skin is dry is not nearly as beneficial."

We recently received this testimonial about an employee who suffered from contact dermatitis due to the inability to wear latex or nitrile gloves.

"We have one employee who suffered from contact dermatitis and couldn't wear any type of glove (latex, nitrile, or otherwise) - but works in our tear-down shop and her hands were constantly covered with crude oil. She agreed to test the samples and was ecstatic over the results. I only wish I had taken photos of her hands before and after. Her hands were horribly scaly and cracked. I reckon the crude oil was causing her dermatitis, but sweating inside the gloves didn't give her hands a chance to heal, so she couldn't wear them either - creating a vicious cycle. Even steroidal creams didn't help, since they aren't barrier creams and only treat the symptoms, not the cause. She can finally wear nitrile gloves now that her hands are healing, but had been after me to place an order for continued use. Thanks for checking back with me to get an order placed."
